If volunteers asked to be with a certain group of people we did our best to arrange that. Volunteers were told who their team leader was and what tasks they were to be doing at the start of each session. Volunteers brought suitable footwear and clothing with them, along with a water bottle, sun screen, any gardening tools. Any valuables were left at home!
What the 2014 SiD 2014 Sunday looked like:
There was plenty to get involved with for the Sunday celebration! Some churches cancelled their morning services so that people were able to help. Set up started in Edmonds Park at 9am, with a list of jobs to do on the day, starting with a litter pick of the park. The event itself started at 2pm and jobs during the event included stewarding (on a rota of 1 hour slots, hi-vis jacket), manning the information table and supervising queues. And of course lots of people were needed to help put the Park back to normal at the end of the day.
Prayer occurred through the week, with special events at English Martyrs, and at the 12-7 prayer space, as well as the time of reflection at the end of each social action, which everyone was welcome to attend.
